Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

These Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are a healthier version of the classic cookie. With just ten ingredients, these gluten-free, nut-free, and vegan cookies are simple to make and quick to whip together. Everyone will love them!

You’ve been loving our Walnut Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies since we created them last summer, but now it’s time for a lil’ twist. Well, as twisty as you can go when you’re heading in the direction of a classic cookie: the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie.

These cookies are most definitely inspired by the first cookie recipe we ever posted on On Our Heals, but they’re also inspired by the fact that oats tend to be our go-to gluten-free flour. It’s just so easy! But spoiler alert: We have some all-new cookie recipes coming down the pipe. We’ve been working on a the perfect vegan coconut flour cookies, and after a bit more testing to get them just right, we’ll be excited to share them with you!

But back to these yummy, delish cooks. (ahem…anyone else have a habit of shortening words like we do?)

These Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are super quick to whip together and the ingredients are so simple. We’re talkin’ ten ingredients and nothing “weird”:

  • Gluten-free quick oats
  • Gluten-free oat flour
  • Coconut sugar – gives the cookies a little caramelly flavour.
  • Water
  • Ground flax seed – combined with the water to replace the need for an egg.
  • Cinnamon – we like to use Ceylon cinnamon or “true” cinnamon because it’s higher in antioxidants and is anti-inflammatory.
  • Raisins – we always buy organic raisins because grapes are on the Environmental Working Group’s Dirty Dozen Guide.
  • Baking soda
  • Sea salt

The cookie dough will come together in a snap and after a quick chill in the fridge, they’ll go into a 350⁰F oven for 15 minutes. The result? Golden-bottomed, slightly crispy, a little caramelized (thank you coconut sugar!), perfect Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. So, so good!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are a classic treat and they’ve been around forEVER. But we also know that some people don’t like raisins… If you’re not a fan of this sweet dried fruit, swap it for another fave like dried cranberries, cherries, or blueberries. And if you want to skip the dried fruit all together, turn these into another tried and true cookie classic: the chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. Swap the raisins for dark chocolate chips and you’ll end up with a super delicious, cinnamony, chocolatey oatmeal cookie.
